DARK GAIA'S PROFILE

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.

I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

The End

As much as I'd love to be able to keep the name of Dark Gaia, I think it's for the best I use my real name. Don't worry though - I'll reveal myself to you when the time comes.

NGP/PSP2

Would at least be nice if there was some sort of system to exchange your PSP UMD's for the downloadable versions, just so you don't have to buy the same games again.

Feel free to role play him as an untrustworthy person, then. Just don't be surprised when nobody feels like helping you out.

Her HP normally wouldn't be so low - the screenshot was taken whilst I was debugging and she's about 5 levels below the other characters. She does have rather slow HP growth though as her Magic and Wisdom are the best of the three characters.

On Name Changes and Pretentiousness

Personally, I don't mind sharing a name with another game's protagonist, which is why I asked if Sailerius wished for it to be changed. Some people might not want "their" character names appearing in another game, especially one they aren't too happy with at the moment.

Also, I intend to change some graphical elements of the game (especially faces) ASAP. As I said, the game is in the early stages and there are a lot of placeholders being used for now. I lack the ability to make competent graphics myself so must rely on what I can find.

NGP/PSP2

And I just bought a PSP. I don't like the sound of the NGP so far. It's a PSP with PS3 graphics. If I want to play a game with excellent HD graphics, I'll buy a PS3 and play it on my big screen TV, not pay even more to squint at them on a tiny screen. Better graphics look better bigger.

Whatchu Workin' On? Tell us!

I'm currently plugging away with Undying Eternal, slowly bringing it closer to release. The creator of Vacant Sky has also left some rather disheartening (but valid) feedback which I will eventually remedy. The main priority at the moment is to lay the groundwork for the mechanics and make a playable game. I hate it when my projects are in the early stages - there are a lot of things I want from the game (in terms of presentation and visuals etc) that I won't be able to even think about for a while. As atmosphere is a key component of the game (being inspired by gothic horror) this is disconcerting.

This all seems to be a lot easier by keeping notes. I've got .txt files planning out skills, equipments, items, quests and a whole folder of files listing the game's conversations, conversation branches and adjustments to the variables that track the player's morality and NPC relationships. These conversation files are essential to me as I don't know how I would remember all of the consequences of the different dialogue choices otherwise.

Undying Eternal

Not awesome particularly, but I intend for it to be enjoyable.

Undying Eternal

Updates coming soon, guys!

Legionwood: Tale Of The Two Swords

Don't feel too bad - it actually happens to more people that you'd think. Glad you're enjoying it.
